COMBINE COLORS WITH THE COLOR CIRCLE
To find out which colors fit together, the color circle is used. Here you will find all colors that we can observe with a color prism. The farther the colors are on the circle, the more they will contrast with each other.
Using the color circle, you can easily find out which interior colors fit together. You can do this in three different ways: Contrasting color combinations, Ton-Sur-Ton color combinations, and the harmonious paint combinations:
1. COMBINE CONTRASTING COLORS
The colors that are opposite each other on the color circle are complementary colors. By using these contrasting color combinations, both colors are enhanced by each other. This creates a lively interior that exudes strength. The most common combinations are green-rose, yellow-blue, blue-red and purple-orange.
2. COMBINE HARMONIOUS COLORS
By combining adjacent colors on the color circle you get harmonious color combinations. Frequently used combinations are orange-red, blue-turquoise and green-yellow. To bring out the harmonious colors, combine them with neutral tones such as white, gray or black.
3. TON SUR TON SHADES – SHOW BY TONE COLOR COMBINATIONS
Ton-Sur-Ton shades are colors with the same color tone and a different amount of white. This color combination is ideal to create subtle nuances in your interior. Show-on-tone shades can be found in the store by using the color swatches. On this is always one basic color with different gradations white. You can also apply the tone-on-tone principle in a white interior. By giving the ceiling and the walls different shades of white, the room will feel a lot more pleasant.
DARE TO EXPERIMENT WITH COLORS AND PAINT!
Do you want to do exuberant, but if you are afraid of the end result, you can first buy some paint samples. These are already available for a few euros and give you an idea immediately whether the colors fit the style of your interior and the furniture.
Also, keep in mind that the perception of colors may vary depending on the lighting used or the intensity of daylight. For example, green will look fresh during the day, but in the evening it will look ugly in combination with candlelight or colored LED lighting. So take the time when you choose colors and compare them at different times of the day.
